We built The Little Wayfarers because we wish it already existed.
We've always loved travel — we were the kind of people who’d book flights two weeks before they departed if we found a great deal. Then we had twins, the world shut down because of Covid, and suddenly we couldn't even take our six-month-olds into a coffee shop. It turned out that staying home indefinitely, with two babies and nowhere to go, made us realize how badly we wanted to be out in the world again.
While we waited, we researched. We looked for beautiful, design-forward hotels that could comfortably fit a family of four, we wanted to be in the neighborhoods where people actually lived, near good food and drinks, and we wanted the prices to make sense. We looked for restaurants that had exceptional food, that weren’t too pretentious, where our kids would be happy too. We discovered pretty quickly that while the internet had plenty of full time travel bloggers making sponsored hotel recommendations and posting pictures of Michelin-starred tasting menus, genuinely useful recommendations for parents - traveling with their kids - who still wanted elevated experiences but not to break the bank - were almost impossible to find.
So we found them ourselves. We've been making curated recommendations for friends and family ever since — and now that we've taken our six-year-olds to sixteen countries, we feel confident enough to share what we've learned.
This isn't about surviving travel with kids. It's about enjoying it enough to do it again. We believe travel changes us - it makes us more open-minded, teaches us compassion and highlights the vast creativity of humankind - and we think that’s a pretty cool thing to show our children. These are our honest guides, for you, the parents who work hard, want the trip to feel worth it, and know that getting out of the house is a big deal. Because it is — for us too.
